A Flemington woman was arrested on heroin and cocaine drug
charges following an investigation started when the Hunterdon
County Crimestoppers Tip Line received information that she was
selling drugs out of her residence in the Hunter Hills apartment
complex on North Main Street, officials said.
Deana M. Johnson, 50, was arrested after a joint investigation
involving the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Gangs, Guns,
and Narcotics Task Force and the Flemington Police Department.
County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III, county Chief of
Detectives John Kuczynski and Flemington Police Chief George
Becker announced the arrest this morning.
After getting the tip, Kearns said the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics
Task Force began surveillance and followed Johnson to Trenton
where some illegal drugs were allegedly purchased. The defendant
was stopped and arrested by Task Force detectives and members of
the Flemington Police Department on Monday, Aug. 11 "as she
returned to Hunterdon County with crack cocaine and heroin,"
Kearns said.
Johnson was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to
distribute and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
Bail was set at $30,000 by Superior Court Judge Stephen B. Rubin
and Johnson was taken to the Hunterdon County Jail awaiting a
first court appearance.
